NV A. Lamblot, Brut Nature, Mouvance 21
The NV Champagne Mouvance 21 Brut is a prime example of the sacrifices producers made in 2021. Alexandre comments that he lost 85% of the grapes in this vintage. As a result, this is one of two wines he produced in 2021, and this release features significantly more reserve wine to compensate for the loss, accounting for 50% of the blend. Composed of 80% Pinot Noir and 10% each Chardonnay and Meunier, it displays a medium yellow/straw color and is savory, offering good complexity. It’s intense, with its red fruit shining brightly on the palate, along with notes of pithy orange citrus, cereal grain, and hay. The palate is medium to full-bodied and persistent, with a chalky texture, some bitterness that enhances the structure, and a mouthwatering mineral drive. A gastronomic wine that has a nice level of restraint in its ripeness, retaining refreshing clarity throughout, it was disgorged in February 2025. Lamblot's NV Brut Nature Mouvance 21, disgorged in September 2024, is primarily sourced from Vrigny and Chenay and features 50% perpetual reserve incorporating wines from 2017 to 2020. Dominated by Pinot Noir, it is enhanced by 10% Pinot Meunier and 10% Chardonnay. Bursting aromas of lemon zest, crisp pear and white flowers, it is medium-bodied, bright and open-knit, with a racy spine of acidity, culminating with a long, citrus-inflected finish. Mouvance 21 and Les Cochènes 2021 are the only two cuvées produced from this challenging vintage. ~ (91) Kristaps Karklins, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 5-8-2025
