2023 Nuits-St-Georges, Clos de la Marechale, Jacques-Frederic Mugnier
Transparent crimson. Some chestnut character on the nose and lovely smooth character on the palate. Very distinctive and, from experience, I know this never disappoints. A wine with a beginning, middle and end. ~ (17) Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com 1-15-2025
This is also quite aromatically pretty with its more deeply pitched nose of red and blue pinot fruit and ample earth influence. The equally delicious medium weight flavors possess an appealing succulence before culminating in a bitter pit fruit-inflected finish. Like the Chambolle villages, this too could use better depth but the quality of the underlying material appears to be up to the challenge. ~ (92) Allen Meadows, Burghound 1-1-2025
The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de la Maréchale 1er Cru had just been racked. This has much more cohesion and brightness on the nose with pretty, finely delineated redcurrant and wild strawberry scents. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins on the entry, gentle grip and slightly piquant red fruit with a judicious touch of white pepper on the finish. ~ (91) Neal Martin, Vinous 1-1-2025
The 2023 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale isn't quite as precise as its Chambolle siblings, revealing aromas of dark berries, smoked meats and orange zest, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and more structured, chalky palate. ~ (90) William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 1-30-2025
