Very intense lychee, Thai basil and fresh mint aromas that aren’t exactly what the world thinks of when it comes to dry riesling. Incredibly focused and precise, although the medium-bodied palate is seriously concentrated and compact. Then comes the super-long and stony finish that’s a long and unwinding road. Whatever you do, put this in a large glass of the kind you’d use for a great pinot noir. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink or hold. ~ (98) Stuart Pigott, JamesSuckling.com 7-1-2024

The 2023 Riesling Lorchhäuser Seligmacher shows Reine Claude plums with streaks of green and yellow citrus on the nose. The slender palate has fill, presenting juicy, tangy, ripe and aromatic tangerine notes and shimmering with Seville orange. It captivates with its fruity, scented zestiness. This beautiful blend of flavors lingers long, makes the mouth water and just gets under your skin. It’s a Riesling of impeccable poise and balance. (Bone-dry) ~ (96) Anne Krebiehl, Vinous 10-1-2024

Piercing lime purity on the nose with a light herbal/fumy note plus a suggestion of candied green fruits. Tastes off-dry, the fruit is mouth-coatingly rich, with a lingering presence thanks to the depth of fruit and the lightly balancing sweetness. Long and complex with an impression of spice on the finish thanks to the texture as well as the flavour. Tingling aftertaste. Better in a year but will age much longer than that. The vineyard name, appropriately means 'blessed maker'. ~ (17) Julia Harding, JancisRobinson.com 6-4-2025

The Lorchhäuser 2023 Seligmacher is clear and savory on the intense and concentrated nose. Dense and very elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, intense and stimulating but also tightly mineral and still stringent Riesling that will definitely benefit from further bottle age. In fact, this is a classic, crunchy, saline and savory Riesling with a concentrated fruit core and crystalline and nervy quartzite acidity that takes it to a long and intense finish. If you give it 5 or 6 years, you will celebrate it. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024. ~ (96) Stephan Reinhardt, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 10-31-2024
