2024 Chambertin, Clos de Beze, Louis Jadot

Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru Red) The 2024 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru comprises one 450-litre cask this year. It is backward, almost obdurate on the nose, tightly packed with red fruit, crushed stone and light cedar aromas, hints of black tea emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fine acidity, bearing similitude to the Clos Saint-Jacques. Quite linear towards the finish, this is nicely focused and though it does not possess the weight and density of a top vintage this is a classy, sophisticated Clos-de-Bèze. ~ (96) Neal Martin, Vinous 1-1-2026

More reserved than the outgoing Chapelle-Chambertin, the 2024 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) unwinds in the glass with notes of raspberries, incense and petals. Cask sample. Mid ruby. Nice nose with red fruits and spice. Sweet texture and brightness to the fruit and good weight on the palate. Fresh, zesty acidity. Well-formed, powdery tannins and long, persistent length. Excellent balance with just a touch of bitterness on the finish. Good grand cru wine, but not extravagant or outrageous. Here the expressive nose is spicier still with its array of red and dark cherry, kirsch, anise, cinnamon and a similar hint of exotic tea. The supple, generous and forward middle weight flavors also possess fine punch before tightening up again in a tightly wound, structured and impressively long finale.
