A slightly riper, and more deeply pitched nose features notes of red and blue pinot fruit, plum and a subtle whiff of spice nuances. As is almost always the case, there is more volume and power to the medium-bodied flavors that display outstanding length on the balanced, firm and built-to-age finale. The 2023 Volnay Vendanges Sélectionnées comes from four selected parcels located just below the Premier Crus and matured in 10% new oak. This is a level up from the regular cuvée with more fruit intensity and presence, presenting raspberry and wild strawberry laced with undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with impressive concentration, gentle grip and a slightly chalky texture toward its finale of frisson and energy. Very fine. ~ (93) Neal Martin, Vinous 1-1-2026
