2023 Volnay, Les Pitures, Michel Lafarge (1.5L)

This is the first wine to display any more than a trace of reduction and here it's enough to blur the nuances of the ripe fruit aromas. On the palate the sleek, intense and powerful flavors flash an almost pungent minerality that adds lift to the beautifully textured and impressively long finale. This youthfully austere effort is clearly constructed to age and in magnum format, which my suggested initial drinking window encompasses, only adds to the need for patience.
