2023 Volnay, Les Caillerets, Maison Benjamin Leroux
The whole cluster vinification is on display as the wonderfully spicy and floral-suffused nose of various dark berries is elegant and beautifully layered. The super-sleek, sappy and attractively textured middle weight flavors also flash an abundance of minerality on the palate soaking, balanced and youthfully austere finale. This firmly structured effort is both quite stylish and very classy. ~ (94) Allen Meadows, Burghound 4-1-2025
The 2023 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru includes 80% whole bunch, which really complements the aromatics. Gorgeous brambly red fruit, forest floor and crushed stone aromas build in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins. It is a little compact at the moment, with plenty of stem influence on the finish. Maybe too much? Let's see, once in bottle. ~ (92) Neal Martin, Vinous 1-1-2025
Mid ruby. Floral nose and sweet cherry. Fruit is lean rather than rich. Elegant, modest and refined. Sapid, salty finish with refreshing acidity. ~ (17) Matthew Hayes, JancisRobinson.com 11-8-2024
