2023 Nuits-St-Georges, La Richemone, Gerard Mugneret

An wonderfully floral-suffused nose freely reveals its aromas of red and dark pinot fruit, jasmine tea and a whiff of just turned earth. The beautifully detailed, mineral-inflected and vibrant middle weight flavors also firm up noticeably on the moderately austere, serious and compact finale. I would make the same observation here that I made about the Ech, e.g., that this is a bit light for what it is but the ineffable elements of class and grace make this quite appealing. ~ (94) Allen Meadows, Burghound 1-1-2025

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges La Richemone 1er Cru contains 100% whole bunch in this vintage. It comes through on the nose in marked comparison to the Echézeaux as it slightly dominates the fruit at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, lace-like tannins and here those stems are more assimilated. Candied orange peel tones and hints of kirsch betray the warmth of the growing season, but it retains definition and freshness. I will be prudent for now—I want to see how much those stems are subsumed. ~ (93) Neal Martin, Vinous 1-1-2025

The 2023 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru La Richemone is the most brooding wine in the range—as usual. Unwinding in the glass with notes of dark berries, incense, grilled squab and orange rind, it's full-bodied, dense and concentrated, with a rich, layered mid-palate and a long, carnal finish. ~ (94) William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 1-30-2025
