2023 Gevrey-Chambertin, Les Cazetiers, Domaine des Chezeaux
The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cazetiers is lovely, mingling aromas of sweet berries and orange rind with notions of spices, rose petals and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, it's pure and floral, with good length on the finish. ~ (93) William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 1-30-2025
The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru comes from the parcel that Amelie Berthaut was farming and was matured in 40% new oak. This has a delightful, beautifully defined bouquet with brambly red fruit, crushed stone and violet scnets that blossom with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins. A touch of orange peel infuses the dark cherry fruit with a crackle of black pepper on the finish. This has a lot of potential. ~ (94) Neal Martin, Vinous 11-1-2024
Here too the more layered nose is fresh, cool and restrained with notably spicier aromas of wild dark currant and forest floor. There is good size and weight if only average density to the solidly powerful and mineral-driven flavors that also deliver excellent length on the moderately austere, firm and compact finale. This is potentially excellent and a wine that should age effortlessly on its balance. ~ (93) Allen Meadows, Burghound 1-10-2025
