A wonderfully broad-ranging nose reflects plenty of floral influences along with a lovely array of spice elements on the airy and cool mix of both red and dark berries. The equally cool, pure and relatively dense medium weight flavors coat the palate with sap while displaying impressive depth and persistence on the very firm, compact and unapologetically built-to-age finale. The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru offers an extremely focused and detailed bouquet with vibrant, mineral-inflected redcurrant and strawberry fruit. The medium-bodied palate features ripe dark cherry and strawberry on the entry, with a hint of vanilla from the oak. It finishes quite linear in style, as if it's holding something back for later. The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques offers up aromas of wild berries and plums mingled with orange zest, rose petals and violets.
