2023 Echezeaux, Maison Benjamin Leroux

A strikingly elegant nose requires some aggressive swirling to progressively reveals the layered array of exotic tea, sandalwood, hoisin, red and dark cherry and a whiff of star anise. The mouthfeel is very much in keeping with the refinement of the nose as it's quite sleek thanks mainly to the fine-grained tannins shaping the firm, serious and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is terrific and as good as both the Boudots and Cazetiers are, there's just another dimension present here. ~ (94) Allen Meadows, Burghound 4-1-2025

The 2023 Echézeaux Grand Cru, which comes or Orveaux lieu-dit, has a nicely detailed bouquet. The one-third whole bunch is neatly integrated, allowing the red fruit to flourish. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, beautiful red cherry and strawberry fruit and an elegant, very harmonious finish. Lovely. ~ (95) Neal Martin, Vinous 1-1-2025
