2023 Chablis, Montee de Tonnerre, Vincent Dauvissat

The 2023 Chablis Montee de Tonnerre 1er Cru has much more brightness and mineralite compared to the preceding Vaillons. This has the bit between its teeth. The palate is very pure and refined. A seductive Montee de Tonnerre with a slightly honeyed, stem ginger tinged finish lingering on the aftertaste. Very fine. ~ (94) Neal Martin, Vinous 6-1-2024

A markedly more floral-suffused nose reflects equally airy aromas of oyster shell, tidal pool and quinine along with citrus and green apple wisps. The succulent, round and intense medium-bodied flavors also exude evident minerality on the lingering, balanced and youthfully austere finale. As is usually the case, this is more refined than the Vaillons but not necessarily more complex.
