The 2023 Chablis Forets 1er Cru shows a little more reduction on the nose than usual, but still one can discern the intensity here. The palate is the most enticing of Dauvissat's Premier Crus, more peppery and animated, building toward quite a powerful and long peacock's tail finish. This could be from nowhere other than Chablis and while this is aromatically less elegant than the MdT, at present it's more complex with beautiful layering of various white orchard fruit, citrus zest and just shucked oysters. As is virtually always the case with this wine, there is both excellent volume and mid-palate concentration while preserving ample power and minerality that really seem to build on the smoky, long and impeccably well-balanced finale. Note however that this is clearly built-to-age and a wine that's going to need at least 5 to 7 first. Excellent. ~ (94) Allen Meadows, Burghound 10-10-2024
