2023 Batard-Montrachet, Alvina Pernot (3L)

There is a touch of phenolic character (think olive oil nuances) present on the ripe, fresh and airy nose of mostly various white orchard fruit, acacia blossom and pretty spice nuances. The succulent and sappy yet refined middle weight flavors possess an almost lilting mouthfeel while displaying enormous persistence on the impeccably well-balanced finale. Granted, this will need time to realize its full potential but it should be seriously good in time. From two plots located on the Chassagne and Puligny side, the 2023 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a taut, fresh, mineral-driven bouquet with plenty of coiled-up energy. The palate is also fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity. It is more penetrating and citric than the Bienvenues, with a lick of salinity on the finish urging you back for another sip.
