2022 Nuits-St-Georges, Les St-Georges, Joseph Faiveley
The 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Saint-Georges unwinds in the glass with notes of dark berries, orange zest, exotic spices and peonies, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and richly layered palate, its generous core of fruit framed by sweet, powdery tannins. Seamless and complete, it's almost the stylistic opposite of the ethereal Damodes. ~ (94) William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 1-18-2024
More moderate wood influence is present on the equally ripe yet cool aromas of various spice elements, red currant and wild cherry. The mouthfeel of the bigger-bodied flavors is also quite sleek while displaying good detail and focused power on the youthfully austere and notably firmer finale. This too is lovely though as is usually the case with LSG, a wine that's going to require at least moderate patience. ~ (93) Allen Meadows, Burghound 1-10-2024
The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru is aged in 50% new oak. It has quite a tertiary bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, red cherries becoming the most prominent scent with a touch of forest floor. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet entry, quite a plush Les Saint-Georges with a dash of white pepper and allspice. I would like a little more grip and complexity on the finish, but it should still drink well for 15-20 years. ~ (93) Neal Martin, Vinous 1-1-2024
Captivating nose of red fruits and bitter chocolate. Mind-blowing concentration and finesse. Easily Grand Cru standard with super-fine tannins and stunning mineral acidity. The finish doesn't want to stop! ~ (97) James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com 6-30-2023
