2022 Nuits-St-Georges, Les Montroziers, Domaine Faiveley
Faiveley's communal-level bottling, a blend of Agrillats and Lavières, has been rechristened as the 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Montroziers, in honor of Maurice Colrat de Montrozier, French statesman and great uncle of Guy and Yvonnes Faiveley. Wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet raspberries, plums and peonies, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and perfumed, with a lively core of fruit underpinned by succulent acids. ~ (91) William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 1-18-2024
Complex nose in which floral and earth elements mingle with a hint of graphite. Impressive structure for a village wine, but also elegant thanks to the fine tannins. Long, velvety finish that's been expertly crafted. A cuvee of all the domaine's sites in this commune (3.2 hectares total). From organically grown grapes. Matured in 30% new oak. Drink or hold. ~ (93) James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com 6-18-2024
Cask sample. Pale garnet. (Less blue than its Chalonnaise sisters.) Light nose and a certain edginess of acidity. A tad gamey. But it should offer value. ~ (16) Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com 11-14-2023
