2021 Brunello di Montalcino, Poggio al Granchio, Tenimenti Angelini (Val di Suga)
The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino Poggio Al Granchio is earthy in the glass, mixing mentholated herbs with balsamic spice and ashen stone. It is juicy upon entry with ripe wild berry fruits and a twang of citrus, while a tactile mineral tinge adds complexity toward the close. Hulking tannins frame the experience as hints of sweet lavender and violet inner florals fade slowly. ~ (94) Eric Guido, Vinous 11-1-2025
The Val di Suga 2021 Brunello di Montalcino Poggio al Granchio comes from the estate’s highest-elevation parcels and immediately conveys freshness and lift, underscoring its site-driven character. The palate is taut and firm, with forest berry and blackcurrant framed by a strong sense of tension, making this wine more vertical and streamlined than its siblings and clearly built for patience. Sourced from a compact 2.8-hectare vineyard at 450 to 480 meters in altitude on cooling galestro schist soils, Poggio al Granchio was produced in just 13,000 bottles. ~ (96) Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 1-29-2026
This is rich, round and saturated with flavors of cherry, blackberry, rose hip and wild herbs. Though dense and still a bit monolithic, this red remains beautifully balanced, expressive and long, with an underlying mineral vein. Shows fine complexity and youthful vigor. Best from 2030 through 2050. 1,100 cases made, 350 cases imported. ~ (97) Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator 3-11-2026
