2021 Barbaresco, Marcorino, Cascina delle Rose

Here's an exciting new addition to the Cascina delle Rose portfolio. The 2021 Barbaresco Marcorino comes from a newly acquired parcel with vines planted in 1944. Wines from the Marcorino MGA in Neive are a rarity. This pretty expression shows medium-dark fruit concentration with floral essences of lilac and rose. Careful oak aging in Slavonian and Swiss casks lasting 24 months has given the wine complexity and depth. A new wine in this range, the 2021 Barbaresco Marcorino is powerful and tightly clenched, its mid-weight structure notwithstanding. Dried herbs, minerals, crushed rocks and slate confer notable savory/mineral complexity. Brisk tannins and beams of tannin give the Marcorino notable energy and drive.
