2020 Vosne-Romanee, Malconsorts, Hudelot-Noellat (1.5L)

The 2020 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts is the most powerful, as well as the least evolved, of the domaine's premiers crus. Unwinding in the glass with scents of dark berries, cherries, exotic spices, licorice, loamy soil and ripe plums, it's full-bodied, rich and layered, with a seamless, multidimensional profile and a long, expansive finish. A more deeply pitched nose features notes of exceptionally floral dark currant, black raspberry, poached plum and a plethora of exotic spice wisps. There is excellent mid-palate density to the powerful and broad-shouldered flavors that flash evident muscularity on the robust and strikingly long finale. This stylish built-to-age effort is going to require extended aging in a cool cellar. The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru has a pixelated bouquet that unfolds beautifully in the glass, a femme fatale of pure red and blue fruit with a hint of violet.
