2020 Pauline Collin-Bereche Champagne Vieilles Vignes, Ludes 1er Cru

Disgorged in November 2025, the 2020 Ludes Vieilles Vignes is the second release from Pauline Collin-Bérêche. It soars from the glass with aromas of peach, red cherry, pear and freshly baked bread. Medium- to full-bodied, ample and textural, it is built around a rich core of fruit and ripe but vibrant acidity, concluding with a long, enveloping finish. Nicely balanced, it was vinified, as was the case last year, in second-hand barrels sourced from a winemaker in Meursault. ~ (93) Kristaps Karklins, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 7-30-2026

The 2020 Extra Brut Ludes Vieilles Vignes is a fabulous follow up to the 2019. A blend of 70% Pinot Noir, 225% Chardonnay and 5% Petit Meslier, the 2020 is sourced from selection of just two hectares of old vines. This opens beautifully on the palate with gorgeous textural presence from the Pinot Noir. White pepper, mint and chalk overtones from the Petit Meslier lift the long, vibrant finish. The 2020 is still recovering from its recent disgorgement about a month before this tasting, but it is incredibly promising. Dosage is 3 grams per liter.
