"Theoretically there would be eight barrels of the 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru, but due to the dryness there are only five-and-a-quarter (exactly). This is exquisitely defined on the nose of crystalline red berry fruit laced with iodine and violet. The palate is very harmonious, featuring more black fruit than red, and very saline in the mouth, with a Mazoyères like structure on the finish. The benchmark Charmes-Chambertin remains... the benchmark."
