2018 Puligny-Montrachet, Champs-Gains, Arnaud Ente (1.5L)
Bright citrus and spice that I thought might have been new oak (but isn’t) and the pure citrus fruit opens up to a bright light of intensity. Almost floral in its lifted scent, then more mineral and savoury on the palate. Super-complex and deep. Gentle in its creamy texture. Generous, rich, spicy and rounded yet still with a tight mouth-watering finish that pulls everything in like a belt. Amazing length. ~ (19) Julia Harding, JancisRobinson.com 11-27-2019
A relatively high-toned nose is comprised by cool, pure and airy notes of mineral reduction, pear and acacia blossom. There is fine intensity to the racy and pure medium weight flavors that possess both a lovely texture and ample minerality on the clean, very dry and chiseled finish that displays a touch of youthful austerity. This too is quite tightly wound and will need at least a few years of patience first. ~ (93) Allen Meadows, Burghound 6-1-2020
Ente's 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ-Gain exhibits notes of white flowers, nashi pear, crisp green apple and citrus oil, framed by a light touch of youthful reduction. Medium to full-bodied, it's bright and fleshy, with a satiny attack that segues into a tangy, precise mid-palate. This is a racy, fine-boned Champ-Gain from Ente. ~ (93) William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 1-14-2021
