A superbly elegant, high-toned, cool and airy combination of the essence of various red berries, anise and a floral top note is complemented by refined and energetic middle weight flavors that flash evident minerality on the lingering, balanced and lightly austere finale. The 2023 Volnay Village is a blend of six parcels. It has a light, earthy nose, with gravel scents permeating red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip and a hint of allspice, as touches of blueberry develop in the glass. It cuts away just a little abruptly on the finish, but it may fill out during its second winter in barrel. ~ (89) Neal Martin, Vinous 1-1-2025
