2023 Gevrey-Chambertin, Les Corbeaux, Vieilles Vignes, Denis Bachelet

A cool yet ripe nose reflects plenty of sauvage character on the wild dark berry, plum and freshly turned earth. There is excellent intensity to the bigger-bodied and notably more powerful flavors that are also markedly concentrated and particularly so for the vintage, all wrapped in a firm, serious and very much built-to-age finale. The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux 1er Cru has a minerally bouquet that is a little more pixelated and brighter than the Les Evocelles. There is wonderful focus and heart-warming purity of fruit, equally red and black. Elegant and poised, the palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. It is not a powerful Gevrey-Chambertin, but it has a seductive, sweet, lightly spiced finish with a little confited fruit. Excellent. ~ (94) Neal Martin, Vinous 1-1-2025

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux has turned out nicely, mingling aromas of cherries and cassis with notions of smoke and spices in an appealing bouquet.
