2023 Bonnes-Mares, Jacques-Frederic Mugnier
That curious form of reduction the Burgundians refer to as bourgeon de cassis (cassis blossom) dominates the nose though a floral hint is discernible. On the palate of the medium weight flavors there is plenty of punch if not the same density before tightening up on the moderately robust, powerful and sneaky long finale. This is built-to-age and a wine that will need 12 to 15 years of it to reach its apogee. ~ (94) Allen Meadows, Burghound 1-1-2025
The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru was the only cuvée that had not been racked. Blackcurrant pastilles commingle with raspberry fruit on the fairly straightforward and well-defined nose. The palate is medium-bodied with a chalky texture and crunchy red berry fruit tones. It's quite linear for a Bonnes-Mares and perhaps it would benefit from more rondeur and depth on the finish. Drink this over the next 12 to 15 years. ~ (92) Neal Martin, Vinous 1-1-2025
Mid ruby. Sweet, concentrated red fruits, red cherry and mature strawberry. Moderate, fresh acidity. As Bonnes Mares go, not too much of a heavyweight – very much the stamp of this producer. The tannins are fine – but copious – and there is length with excellent persistence. ~ (17) Matthew Hayes, JancisRobinson.com 11-6-2024
The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is more structured than the Fuées, though it remains a comparatively soft, open-knit rendition of this wine, offering up notes of dark berry fruits mingled with orange zest, exotic spices and petals. Medium to full-bodied, with a pillowy core of fruit, fine tannins and a saline, mineral finish, it will offer a broad drinking window. ~ (94) William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 1-30-2025
