2021 Volnay, Santenots, Louis Jadot

The 2021 Volnay 1er Cru Santenots (Domaine Louis Jadot) has turned out very well, offering up aromas of raspberries, licorice, sweet spices and orange zest, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate framed by sweet, powdery tannins. The Volnay Les Santenots 1er Cru has a very attractive, pure bouquet with shimmering red berry fruit, wilted rose petal and a touch of undergrowth that becomes increasingly floral with aeration. Impressive delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannins. Sensual and supple, there are no hard edges here, and the finish seems to glide. A herbal tea top note is present on the bright aromas of red cherry, raspberry and pretty spice nuances. The super-sleek and impressively intense medium-bodied flavors flash good power on the tautly muscular and moderately austere finish.
