2021 Chassagne-Montrachet, Morgeot, Marquis de Laguiche, Joseph Drouhin
The Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru (Marquis de Laguiche) has a more complex and engaging bouquet thant the preceding Meursault-Perrieres with lovely dried flower and light nectarine scents, an underlying mineralite that should develop with bottle age. The palate has plenty of vigour, perfectly-judged acidity with impressive weight on the finish. This just seems to unfurl and it should provide immense pleasure. ~ (93) Neal Martin, Vinous 11-1-2022
Beautifully intense nose of lemon verbena, star fruit, spiced pears, cloves and a touch of cedar. Full-bodied and precise, with fantastic freshness, developing breadth and depth. Phenolic tension at the end. Very long. Try from 2024. ~ (95) James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com 6-28-2023
Cask sample. Much more race than the Clos des Mouches Blanc actually! Much more to my taste. Not sure I can recommend it as a bargain but it's very pure and crystalline … ~ (17.5) Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com 1-11-2023
This is also quite floral in character, which adds a touch of elegance to the aromas of petrol, rosemary oil and citrus confit. The succulent and caressing yet decidedly powerful medium-bodied flavors also conclude in a bone-dry, citrusy and youthfully austere finale. This is also very well-balanced but quite tightly coiled and a wine that is going to need at least some patience. Worth your interest. ~ (93) Allen Meadows, Burghound 6-10-2023
