2021 Barolo, Brea, Vigna Ca' Mia, Brovia
The Brovia 2021 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca' Mia is another beauty from a stellar vintage. This expression is slightly more floral initially, in a playful way, but fruit is from Serralunga d'Alba, so you get the power and those characteristic notes of iron and candied orange peel as well. It has it all, including a bolder and bigger texture, not in the sense of volume but in the sense of length. The wine remains extremely polished and fine overall. Fruit comes from one hectare on clay limestone soils at 300 to 370 meters above sea level. Production is 5,000 bottles. ~ (97) Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 6-19-2025
A jeweled ruby red color, the 2021 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca' Mia is more introspective initially and leads with notes of eucalyptus, black cherries, balsamic herbs, and fresh tobacco. It’s powerful and broader shouldered on the palate, with expansive, ripe tannins, dark mineral undercurrents, and a mouthwatering flourish of salted licorice on the finish. This well-detailed and commanding wine is going to benefit from another couple years in cool cellars. Drink 2027-2047. ~ (95) Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com 5-1-2025
This Barolo opens with aromas of violets, bark and touches of resin, tar and elderberries. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with a firm tannin frame and a delicate and delineated red fruit profile. Solid and complete. A very elegant and polished interpretation. It needs a couple of years to come together. Drink from 2027. ~ (95) James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com 1-11-2025
The 2021 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca' Mia is a rich, potent wine. Sage, menthol, gravel, licorice, incense and dried flowers run through a core of dark Serralunga fruit. This sepia-toned, brooding Barolo needs time, but it possesses notable textural depth and power. Time in the glass brings out the wine's breadth and overall presence. The 2021 offers a captivating mix of finesse and intensity, the duality that is at the essence of what Barolo is all about. ~ (95) Antonio Galloni , Vinous 1-1-2025
Mid crimson. Enticing, minerally red fruit on the nose, with complex herb and spice notes. Seems extrovert at first, but curls up. Compact palate with a core of cool cranberry fruit filled out with sandy, fine tannins. Ends almost a little mouth-watering and with real substance and length but without being heavy. ~ (18) Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com 11-29-2024
