2019 Champagne Savart, Extra Brut, Haute Couture (1.5L)

The 2019 Extra-Brut Haut Couture Le Mesnil sur Oger is one of the best wines I have tasted from Fred Savart. Towering in its intensity, the 2019 captures the purest essence of Mesnil in this vintage. Tropical fruit, lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers and butter all soar out of the glass. The malolactic fermentation is blocked (as it is in most of these Champagnes), and yet the natural radiance of the year is very much on the show. The 2019 brilliantly straddles the line between still and sparkling wine. I would be thrilled to own it. What a wine! Dosage is 2 grams per liter.
