Of all the domaine's wines, Leflaive's 2015 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon is arguably the cuvée that has benefited the most from biodynamic viticulture, as what was formerly a rather foursquare, blocky premier cru in the 1990s is now routinely more dynamic and lively. The 2015 opens in the glass with a pretty bouquet of fresh pear, citrus zest, orange blossom and pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is bright, energetic and pure with good depth and a tangy, penetrating finish. While the race is close today, the Clavoillon is holding more in reserve than the domaine's excellent Puligny Village, and its acids are brighter, so this will reward a bit of patience. ~ (91) William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2-28-2018

The 2015 Le Clavoillon from Leflaive comes from a site that has a similar location on the slope as the Bâtard-Montrachet lieu-dit. It has a vibrant citrus and white flower-laced style as well as medium body, beautiful tension and depth, bright acidity, and a big, mineral-laced finish. It’s an incredibly promising, lively effort that has a long life ahead of it. ~ (94) Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com 12-13-2018

Bright yellow. Very ripe aromas of peach and pineapple accented by minerals. Fat and full but with lovely acid cut to the flavors of pineapple, stone fruits and grilled nuts; fresher than the Meursault but not quite as brisk as it was from barrel a year earlier. Finishes with a suggestion of phenolic dryness and dusty tannins, especially compared to the 2016 version. ~ (90) Stephen Tanzer, Vinous 9-1-2017

Here too there is a trace of matchstick character on the slightly riper aromas that feature notes of apple compote, lavender and hints of the exotic and citrus elements. The rich, generously proportioned and fleshy medium weight flavors possess more size and weight than is usual for this wine thanks to the copious level of dry extract that confers a sappy texture to the moderately structured and notably dry finish in the context of the vintage. ~ (93) Allen Meadows, Burghound 6-1-2017

Pressing was quite difficult. Herbal blossoms on the nose. Tight and neat without the pzazz of Dos d’Âne but it will presumably flower eventually. There seems a slightly lack of juice here at the moment with a strong phenolic note and a chalky finish. ~ (16) Tamlyn Currin, JancisRobinson.com 11-8-2016
